WINDSURFING CUP 3V 2020, GREECE - CANCELLED
The Division II European Championship weekend was organized on the Heegermeer by WaterSportvereniging Heeg, in collaboration with the IWA (International Windsurfing Association) and the Division II Class Association. The Division II windsurf board is a former Olympic class from 1988 and 1992, with which Stephan van den Berg, among others, sailed the Olympic Games. [more]
In addition to a great series of 11 races, the participants are also treated to a fun program with a barbecue and a true eleven-city experience. On Saturday afternoon various participants surfed through Heeg to Watersportcamping Heeg, where after a beach start a competition was sailed over various pools and ditches behind Heeg.
In the end Petros Katsareas from Greece became European Champion in the A-class, the class with the traditional harness from 1988. Fellow Greek Chris Valavanis was second and Kay Buerger from Germany was third.
In the C-class with modern rigging, the Frenchman Alain Cadre has become European Champion. Irek Kutyla from Poland was second and Dutchman Vincent Thoms from Scheveningen finished in a deserving third place.
The Division 2 European Championships began on Thursday 30th May, continuing until Sunday 2nd June at the Heegermeer in Friesland (The Netherlands), hosted by WaterSportvereniging Heeg. Competitors were greeted on the first day of competition with too much wind and waves, keeping the fleet ashore until finally the race committee decided to cancel for the day. However, on the plus side, this gave everyone a chance to get to know each other, check out the kit and swap stories.
On Friday there was a good wind and we were able to finish 3 races. So, a good day in comparison to the day before. Greek Veteran, Petros Katsareas, winner of the first race, finished the day at the top of the A category Leaderboard but with the same number of points as German Grandmaster, Kay Buerger, and Greek Veteran Stratos Efthyvoulidis is in third. In the C category, French Veteran, Alain Cadre, stole the show with three wins, a clear 5 points ahead of his nearest rival Grandmaster Vincent Thoms from the Netherlands and Brit Grandmaster, Peter Murray, in third. All to play for in the coming days.
The day was rounded off with a BBQ with new friends, all looking forward to tomorrow - another match and another great day on the water in this beautiful place.

2018 ID2CA Championships
The ID2CA 2018 European Championship took place 4-9 September in Portoroz, Slovenia, a famous sailing spot and a well known tourist destination.
The weather was almost Mediterranean - warm and sunny, except a short interval on Friday 7/9, but the wind was very light sea breeze from 6 to 9 knots. Due to this the race committee had difficulty carrying out the planned racing program. So on Wednesday 5/9/ three courses were conducted with wind up to 8 knots and on Thursday 6//9 three more courses were conducted with lighter sea breeze. Read More . . .

2016 Annual Ranking Lists: Overall / Cat A / Cat C
Formerly the International Displacement Division of Sailboards (Division II) Association, the ID2CA has been formed to regroup windsurfers sailing Division II sailboards as well as to promote and develop again the Div II Class throughout the world.
A Division II sailboard is defined as a round bottom sailboard built to International Displacement Division Measurement Rules initially set by the International Board Sailing Association (IBSA) and approved by the International Yacht Racing Union (IYRU) from 1979 to 1992. An objective of ID2CA is the conception and production of new Division II boards and sails using new technologies, according to its Class Rules (effective 1st January 2017).
ID2CA Class Rules (CR) specify 3 types of sail:
Type A (CR 3.8)
Triangular 'one-design', short-battened sails with maximum sail area of 6.5 sq.m.
Type B (CR 3.9)
Open in design, fully battened, with a maximum sail area of 7.5 sq.m.
Type C (CR 3.10)
Open in design and use of materials; with maximum sail: size 9.5 sq.m for men, 8.5 sq.m for women.
Skeg (CR 3.4 )
Measured normally to the fair underside of the board, the depth of the skeg shall not exceed:
- Type A & B : 300 mm
- Type C: 400 mm
Mast (CR 3.5)
The length of the mast for "Type A" rigs shall not exceed 4800mm measured from the deck at the mast foot.
For "Type B" rigs the length of the mast shall not exceed 5300mm.
For "Type C" rigs the length of the mast shall not exceed 6000mm.
Boom (CR 3.6)
The size of the boom is optional for "Type A" and "Type B"
The size of the boom shall not exceed 3000mm for "Type C"
Limitation of Equipment (CR 5)
During the regatta only one board, three sails and two centerboards may be used. Not more than two sails shall be greater than 6.5 m2 measured in accordance with these rules. Only one sail and one centerboard shall be carried during a race.

Appendix A - Procedure for Division II Sailboards Measurement
The ID2CA regattas will be run according to the Championship and Racing Rules.
