Organisation/WS Class Reports/2006

2006 Class Reports to ISAF Windsurfing Committee.

Founded in January 2001, when it was first incorporated as a Limited Company in the UK, the
International Windsurfing Association was formed to unite the sport of windsurfing: to provide a focal point for information and central administration for all classes.

The 2006 Executive Committee is made up from:

Ezio Ferin – President & Techno 293 Chairman
John Ellis - Hon Treasurer (Professional Accountant)
Peter Krimbacher - MJOD representative
Ceri Williams - IFWC Chairman
Bruno de Wannemaeker - IFCA President
Paul Leone - Raceboard President
Vincenzo Pottini – MOD representative
Diederik Bakker
Marc Cardon
Craig Gertenbach – Industry Representative

Annie Dollery – Administrative Secretary

Each December the committee sets down “aims and objectives” for the coming year- for 2005 to:
i) Promote junior development programmes in all disciplines.
ii) World wide promotion of Techno 293 Class.
iii) Foster closer relations with the PWA.
iv) Offer guidance to National Authorities and National windsurfing Associations regarding Class structure and equipment.
(v) Improve standards at, and quality of, events.
vi) Promote Associate Membership Scheme and develop Sponsorship Programme.
vii) Publish a clearly defined structure for the sport.

A great deal of progress has been made towards achieving these goals; success will in some measure depend upon the outcome of this years conference.
The IWA works vigorously to develop competitive windsurfing. Consequently IWA is supporting the class applications before this years meeting, and urges the Windsurfing Committee to do the same ie recommend that ISAF approve the submissions from Techno 293 Class, International Speedsailing Association and Mistral Prodigy One-Design class.

The reports of the Class Chairmen/Presidents follow.

IWA - "to unite, to assist, and to serve."
