The 2014 RS:One Trikora Beach World Championship was officially begun on Tuesday 15th December in Bintan island, Indonesia. For the first time, Indonesia, the 2018 Asian Games organisers, hosted an international RS:One event with the strongest fleet an RS:One World championships has seen so far.

For this last day of competition the weather and the waves decided to be cooperative with perfect sunny sky and a medium breeze of 14 knots.

The race committee scheduled 3 "Regatta" races back to back considering the threat of a dry reef with the afternoon low tide.

First surprise of the day was the victory of Indonesian sailor Suartana Komang ahead of Cheng Kwok Fai and Geylord Coveta. The second race passed without any radical surprises and the podium contenders controlling each other.

In the third race of the day, in an increasing breeze, Geylord Coveta thought he had done the job by finishing second but this was without knowing he had crossed early the starting line under the black flag.

In the women's fleet Ma Kwan Ching, from Hong Kong, allowed for the first time Syadine Arethusa, from Indonesia, to cross the finish line in first place and take the final podium position from her team mate Rio Horirah.

The Hong Kong Team demonstrated an impressive consistency and maturity in these championships claiming the Men and the Women World titles.
