Women/Morane Demont PWA

Morane Demont's PWA Slalom riders report!

Morgane Demont finished 8th in Alaçati and is currently 6th overall. Here's what she had to say about Slalom racing in Turkey:

"Alacati is just great, I like this place so much; magnificent racing with crystal-clear water, a nice temperature and a very good atmosphere! Regrettably on 6 days of competition, we had only had those 2 days in the beginning to race.

"I raced a 7.0 Severne Reflex and switched between my 111 and 94 Isonic, in combination with a 38cm SL4 Deboichet. This package gave me very good speeds, and I qualified the first day. A 6th place after a very good race in the first 2 winner finals, left everything open, and I was ready for more.

"The second day, I had bad luck with 2 collisions: In the first round, one of the other girls went straight for me in the jibe, very successfully. That incident meant a loser final for me.

"Then, in the winner finals number 4, I was 5th until the last mark when another competitor tried to pass me inside at the jibe where there was about zero space, making me fall again and have all the others pass me.

"Anyway, I was ready to attack the next days but the wind didn't come through. The last day we still had a mildly changing wind around 10 to 15 knots but it turned out to be unstable, a wind condition I particularly like but nothing happened."

"Finally I finish 8th this event and actually 6th overall and I'll be waiting for September to have the finales Hyeres. I'll also participate in the French Championship this August."

Best regards
