Dawn Patrol on Day 2 in Denmark
Posted On:  19/09/2019 13:44:20

3 Eliminations were completed in the early morning of the second competition day here in Hanstholm Denmark.

The Juniors and Youths could finally get their own competition going while the Women manage to sail the remaining semi and final heats from the previous day.

Germany's Anton Richter Junior (U15), local Simon Kristensen Youth (U21) and Lina Erpenstein (f) from Germany are currently event leaders in the Junior, Youth and Women divisions advancing through the sailed heats with highest scoring points for jumps and wave rides.

After the early (07:30) scheduled skippers meeting the junior, youth and women competitions started in the golden light of a magnificent sunrise lightening up the first competition hours of the day while the men were on hold, the wind blew smooth in the range of 19 to 25 knots with waves height of 1 to 2 meters.

By mid day the conditions became unsuitable for continuing with the wave discipline whereas competitors are judged based on their general sailing performance within a 16 minute heat period and only 1 best Jump and 2 best wave rides count for the overall score sheets.

After a little wind dip at noon, the competition was on hold for about 4 hours.  In the late afternoon the wind showed signs of improvements but competitors remained on standby.  The head judge then decided to push for the Men's heat 28 and 29 who sailed in light conditions with only best wave rides counting. The event was called off afterwards and the second competition day came to an end.

Tomorrow looks a lay day with a very poor forecast but, there might be a chance for some wind in the late afternoon. Skippers meeting is set for 13:00.
