Posted On:  20/05/2019 10:28:22

The opening event of the 2019 IFCA ABC TOUR - Dutch Caribbean Championships was the Curacao Challenge 10-12 May in Caracasbaai at the Windsurfing Curacao station. A total of 40 competitors in a variety of age categories registered and saw 2 days of action and 9 accomplished rounds of slalom racing. Team Aruba dominated the races in the Youth, Juniors U15 and Women divisions.

The 2019 IFCA ABC Tour is a series of windsurfing events taking place on the Dutch Caribbean islands of Aruba, Bonaire & Curacao. The tour is sanctioned by the International Funboard Class Association (IFCA) who officially supports and grants the IFCA Dutch Caribbean Titles to the winners of the series at the awards ceremony at the Final tour stop. Points are collected at each of the tour stops. Out of the 3 events competitors receive 1 Result discard. The winner in each valid age category is crowned IFCA Dutch Caribbean Champion. The winner of the Youth division will receive a sponsored trip to the next IFCA Youth Slalom Worlds in corporation with local sponsorship deals.

After a short break, the second stop of the IFCA ABC Tour at the Fishermens hut in Aruba, 17-19 May, saw 2 action packed days of high winds slalom racing with a total of 14 rounds of racing for each age division. There were a few disappointments for some of the Youth and Juniors competitors which made it thrilling till the last race of the event.

Aruba provided a great set up with thanks to the local organization, all the sponsors and a hard working crew both on land and water. Congratulations to all the competitors who participated. It was hot, windy and fun and now BONAIRE IS NEXT.

Stay Tuned!
