37 competitors from 14 countries representing 3 continents registered for the inaugural Formula Windsurfing Foil World Championship in Portimao, Portugal. Multiple champions from the world of windsurfing are competing here for the title, in a discipline that is fast developing and gaining worldwide attention.

This championship represents the final event in a series of 3 forming part of the 2018 Portimao Windsurfing Worlds. Conditions have been challenging all week, and there was no change to the pattern for day one of Foiling!

As ever, the race committee was ready to maximise any opportunity to race and so it was that one race was completed late in the afternoon before the wind died away.
