Podium Slots at Risk as Final Day Approaches in Denmark
Posted On:  14/09/2018 14:41:58

Finally, with an easy going morning under very nice sunshine, the competitors were put on hold. Wind conditions too light for suitable racing, so a little break for everyone after 3 days of pure adrenaline action here in Hvide Sande. Later in the afternoon the races could finally start in winds from 14 to 16 knots. The Race director prepared a new slalom racing course with 1 less mark (4) and longer reaching legs than the previous days, to ensure maximum speeds in the smooth gusty wind conditions.

Women division : Fulya Unlu from Turkey currently in second position
"Everything is ok for me, yesterday and today I managed to win some of the races. The conditions today were good for me because I like the lighter winds and my biggest equipment set ups. The speed and Jibes all went well, tomorrow is the final day and I hope that everything will be going good. so I am waiting :-)."

Top 5 Women After 10 Eliminations - 3 discards
1 JENNA GIBSON | GBR-96
2 FULYA UNLU | TUR-165
3 MARIANNE RAUTELIN | FIN-13
4 MAJA DZIARNOWSKA | POL-7
5 ANDREA VANHOORNE | BEL-26

Men division: Maciek Rutkowsky from Poland currently in second position
"I feel great, I don't have much to lose after today's races. The winds were very shifting and it was really tricky to find space on the starting line but in the end I managed to get good starts. My plans were executed well and I managed to do everything I wanted to do. Today I was on the 8.6 Sail and my big Board 139ltr, it was the right choice for making it through the wind lulls around the course area. For tomorrow I just want to continue doing what I have been doing, I know that I have what it takes and will focus stronger on my starts. Once you're clear ahead, it should be all good. If I manage to perform well, it would be great and, if not, it is what it is."

A few protests, tight races and mistakes from current event leaders allow for excited emotions towards the final day. A total of 10 Eliminations completed for the Women and 7 for the Men - who are looking forward to the 8th Elimination to receive the third discard.

The Final day approaches, so far this championship has been blessed with perfect slalom conditions, a perfect event site-set up and a well motivated crew. 1 more day to go and two Windsurfing World Champions will be crowned in Hvide sande, Denmark.
