Another 5 races completed today in challenging conditions.  First two races with the foil fitted, wind less than ideal, gusting from 15 to 25 knots. All but one youth sailor was able to complete both races.

After a short break, with wind averaging 20 knots, 3 races were completed in fin mode on a "figure of 8" slalom course. All competitors finished all races.

The general reaction from all sailors as they came ashore - exhilarated, but exhausted. Ready for more tomorrow? - "you bet we are!"

Thomas Goyard, (FRA-3), maintains his lead in the men's fleet - despite an OCS (over early at the start) of race 9, the first slalom race of the championship. However, he recovered well from that disappointment to win the last race of the day.

Sebastian Kornum (DEN-24) and Julien Bontemps (FRA-6) continue their battle for the final 2 podium places.
 
In the women's fleet Maelle Gilbaud (FRA-5) confirmed her dominance in either mode, and looks to have an unassailable lead in the overall rankings. However, she did not have it all her own way - Marina Alabau (ESP-5) won the final slalom race of the day.

On coming ashore Marina exclaimed, "that was fun .... but now I suddenly feel I can do no more!"

Until, of course, tomorrow  and another day's racing at Praia da Vitoria on the Island of Terceira.
